She was born to a filmy family her father Om Shivpuri is an Indian actor and Director who worked in many movies and her Mother Sudha Shivpuri an Indian actress. She started her career in her first debut movie aankhen (1993) which was appraised by the audience.

In 1995 she performed her promising role in the movie “The Rock” and the movie “Aar ya Paar” (1997). She also works in the Telugu movie “Dongaata” in 1997. Also, she play a role in the Kannada movie “Z” in 1999.

In 2006 she appears in the Punjabi movie “Ek Jind Ek Jaan”. After she took a break from acting for 10 years she appeared in the series “24-India”. She appeared in “Iss pyaar ko kya naam do 3” in 2017, and Ritu appears in the Netflix series “Class” in 2023.
