Chandrayaan-3, pronounced as “Moon-craft,” represents the third phase of India’s lunar exploration efforts, falling within the Chandrayaan program by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). This mission includes a lander named Vikram and a rover named Pragyan, which resemble the equipment used in the earlier Chandrayaan-2 mission. The propulsion module facilitated the transport of the lander and rover to lunar orbit, setting the stage for the lander’s controlled descent.

Chandrayaan-3 was launched on July 14, 2023. Subsequently, the lander and rover safely touched down in the vicinity of the lunar south pole on August 23, 2023. This achievement marked India as the first country to successfully land a spacecraft near the lunar south pole and the fourth nation to achieve a lunar landing overall.

After finishing school at St. Anjani’s Public School and Navyug Kanya Vidyalaya in Lucknow, she continued her studies and worked part-time as a teacher at Lucknow University. Amazingly, she also wrote a research paper within the first six months of her Ph.D. program.

But things changed when she received the results of her GATE exam, six months into her Ph.D. She encountered a difficult decision: whether to continue her Ph.D. or accept an opportunity at the esteemed Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, where she had received selection.
