Parakala Prabhakar is an Indian political economist and social commentator. He is a communication advisor in the Andhra Pradesh government (July 2014 and June 2018). Parakala discusses current affairs on TV channels of Andhra Pradesh(Pratidhwani on ETV2 and Namaste Andhra Pradesh on NTV). He is spokenman and general secretaries of Praja Rajyam Party. Prabhakar is spoken person of BJP in the 2000s. He is the husband of Nirmala Sitharaman who is Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs of India. He also extended his support to establish Prajarajyam Party.

His father, Parakala Seshavatharam, was a distinguished legislator who served in three consecutive Cabinets in Andhra Pradesh during the 1970s and early 1980s. His mother, Prakala Kalikamba, was a Member of the Legislative Assembly. In 1986, he married Nirmala Sitharaman, who currently holds the position of Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs in the Government of India’s Narendra Modi cabinet since 2019. Their daughter, Parakala Vangmayi, is a senior reporter at a national newspaper.

Parakala Prabhakar Love Story:
Nirmala Sitharaman, his wife, garners respect not just due to her own achievements, but also because of her association with Prabhakar. Their mutual affection and love story originated during their time at JNU University in Delhi. Nirmala Sitharaman has gained considerable attention, particularly in Telugu states, where she is highly respected. A church event is planned to honor her for the significant respect she has garnered.
He started his education at Lakshminarasamamba Municipal School in Narasapuram, where he completed his primary schooling. He then pursued his high school studies in Himayatnagar, Hyderabad. For his Senior Secondary education, he attended both Nampally Junior College and Sri YN College in Narasapuram. His academic journey also took him abroad, where he earned his doctorate (Ph.D.) from the London School of Economics. Prior to that, he achieved his Master of Arts (M.A.) and Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University.
He was involved in various political parties over the years. He began his political journey with the Indian National Congress between 1994 and 1996. Afterward, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from 1997 to 2006. In 2008, he became a member of the Prajarajyam Party.
In 1994, he contested and lost the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election under the Congress ticket, facing a deficit of over 20,000 votes. The following year, he participated in the Lok Sabha election from the Narsapuram Assembly Constituency but was unsuccessful. He switched to the BJP in 1997, representing the Narsapuram assembly in the Lok Sabha election again in 1998, resulting in another loss.
In 1999, he took on the role of Spokesperson for BJP in Andhra Pradesh, also serving as a member of the party’s economic policy and the planning commission task force for India. In 2006, he contested and lost the general election from Godavari district for the fourth time, leading to his resignation from BJP.
In 2008, he founded the Prajarajyam Party. Later, in 2014, he was appointed as a Communication and Advisor to the Andhra Pradesh Government, but he resigned from this position in 2018.
