Career
Student Politics
While studying at Gajendra Singh Shekhawat Jai Narayan Vyas University, Jodhpur, in 1992, he contested the election of University President on the seat from Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and won with good votes.
Shekhawat was appointed National General Secretary of the BJP Kisan Morcha, the farmer’s wing of the Bharatiya Janta Party.
Political Career
Gajendra Singh Shekhawat 16th Loksabha Election 2014 contested from the Jodhpur Loksabha seat on the Bharatiya Janata Party ticket and won the election. After that on 3rd September 2017, he was given the post of State Agriculture Minister and Farmers Welfare Minister in Central Government.
In the 17th Lok Sabha Elections 2019, he contested the election of Lok Sabha member for the second time from Jodhpur Lok Sabha seat on Bharatiya Janata Party ticket and defeated Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s son Vaibhav Gehlot by more than 4Lakh votes. After he was appointed as a Cabinet minister in the central government Minister of Jal Shakti.
