Who is Armstrong Pame?
Armstrong Pame is a Manipur cadre officer in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from the 2009 batch. He is a member of the Manipur-based Zeliangrong community’s Zeme Naga tribe. Armstrong Pame has received many awards, including the Most Eminent IAS Officer Award for India in 2015 and the Unique IAS Officers Award for India in 2021.

Early Life
Armstrong Pame comes from the village of Impa in the Tousem Subdivision of Manipur’s Tamenglong district. Where there is no road other than the British bridle track that connects his town to Tamenglong. He belongs to the Zeme-speaking section of the Zeliangrong people. Jeremiah Pame, his older brother, is a lecturer in Delhi University’s English department. His two older sisters, Pourei and Ramning, as well as his nephew Simon, made every effort to visit him today.
Education
He studied at Christian Grammar School and United Builders School. And Pretty Lamb Institute in Tamenglong for his final three years of school. Later, he graduated from St. Edmund’s College in Shillong with his Class 11 and Class 12 qualifications. He took the Civil Services Examination (CSE) in 2008 and got selected for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). And after earning his bachelor’s degree from St. Stephen’s College in Delhi in 2005.

Career
In some of the most difficult environments, like Tousem, Tadubi, and Paomata, Armstrong Pame served in a number of posts, including Sub-Divisional Magistrate. He was the first Deputy Commissioner in Kamjong, and he later served in his home district of Tamenglong. In the Manipuri government, he served in the positions of Director of Youth Affairs and Sports and Special Secretary for Planning (R&D). He is currently employed at the Indian government’s Ministry of Information & Broadcasting as Deputy Secretary.
